Karen Bennicke is a trained potter. Her ceramic sculptures are based on architecture, urban plans, and landscape structures, where light, shadow, and materiality are the essential components. She has extensive exhibition and commission experience, and her work is featured in many museum public collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Museum of Modern Ceramic Art in Gifu, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Nationalmuseum of Stockholm, and the Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen. She is the recipient of several awards, including the the Thorvald Bindesboll Medal from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and a Lifelong Achievement Award from the Danish Arts Foundation.
