Nina Malterud

Nina Malterud (b. 1951) has been working as a ceramic artist since 1975, in Oslo and later in Bergen. From 2002 to 2010 she was rector at Bergen National Academy of the Arts (KHiB), and a professor of ceramics 1994 to 2002. In later years, she has been working as a senior advisor at the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design, University of Bergen. Nina Malterud has exhibited extensively in Norway and internationally. In 2022, Kode Art Museums and Composer Homes exhibited a large retrospective of her work, Material Statements, curated by Jorunn Veiteberg. The same year she received the Ulrik Hendriksens Honorary Prize from Bildende Kunstneres Hjelpefond (The Visual Artists' Aid Fund) as well as being appointed Knight 1st Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, for her contributions to the art education and for her artistic practice.
